VILLA SELVATICO EMO CAPODILISTA

The complex, in excellent condition, is located on the top of the Sant'Elena hill. It consists of the three-storey villa, which is accessed via a monumental staircase of 140 steps, a tower, the chapel dedicated to Saint Helena and the garden. The villa, with a cruciform plan with the corners closed by square towers and a large lead dome, has a Palladian-inspired facade. The stairway was built in 1650 to connect the villa to the new buildings built at the base of the hill, near the sweat cave; The frescoes in the central hall by Luca Ferrari also date back to this period. In 1816 the Selvatico commissioned Giuseppe Jappelli, architect and hydraulic engineer (1783-1852), to rearrange the park. Jappelli designed the garden according to romantic fashion,
