Petrarca square

In a small green space in front of the church of Santa Maria del Carmine, a statue commemorates the poet Francesco Petrarca, who moved from Milan to Padua to escape the plague. He lived first in Padua and then decided to settle in the small village of Arquà at the invitation of his friend Francesco Il Vecchio da Carrara.
